The nature around the project

RE plants take up large areas of land.

By converting the monocultural farmland into a sustainable energy project, it offers great opportunities to promote nature interests and strengthen local biodiversity.

UNISON thus focuses on incorporating
biodiversity-enhancing measures in project development and works from the following approach:

  • Preserve and protect existing nature
  • Increase the natural value of existing nature
  • Strengthen connectivity between natural areas
  • Create new natural areas with a variety of habitats

The existing nature in the area includes several smaller nature areas distributed throughout the project area. These include a bog that remains planted, a meadow area, several small lakes, a forest and windbreaks. A report has been prepared that describes the state of nature in these areas. The report also provides suggestions for the care and maintenance of the natural areas. The report can be viewed on Favrskov Municipality's website.

Between the solar panels and in the areas that are kept free of technical installations, new valuable habitats for animals and plant species can be created with little effort.

The following actions are suggestions that can create new habitats:
  • Insect volley
  • Maintain and improve the living conditions of small lakes and wetlands
  • Planting clusters of native trees and shrubs
  • Laying large stones and rock piles
  • Establishing a quasi-fence
  • Laying out dead wood, both in the form of large logs and branch piles
  • Sowing seed mixes consisting of native species on selected plots

In general, we work to create variation in habitats in the form of terrain differences, variation in light and wind conditions and both wet and dry elements. Above are some of the specific initiatives we are working with in our renewable energy plants to promote nature and biodiversity.
